It all started during a one-hour layover in Charleston…

I noticed a familiar face quietly looking around above dark glasses and softly asked, almost under my breath, “Are you Rob?”

He replied cautiously, “Yeah… who are you?”

So naturally 😄… I gave my elevator pitch and shared a little about my artwork — including the recent honor of creating two paintings for Tim Tebow as Christmas gifts for his parents.

Within moments, I found myself unexpectedly sitting in the American Airlines lounge (full buffet, coffee bar, luxury seating and all 🤯) having one of those conversations that only God could orchestrate.

As we talked, we connected over art, faith, family, and a shared heart for giving back. He was especially moved by the fundraising side of my work, and before long, he began sharing ideas — from possibly having me and my daughters teach his preteen girls to paint, to creating art at a future fundraising event through the YCDI Foundation.

Then came one of those unmistakable God winks…

He mentioned wanting to introduce me to a few friends, including Frank Turek — someone my family had literally been talking about on the drive to the airport just hours earlier. I shared that I’d love to gift a print of my Charlie Kirk tribute painting to Frank, as well as one for Jack Hibbs.

But perhaps my favorite part of the whole encounter had nothing to do with art or opportunity.

Before we parted ways, he opened up about walking through a painful season.

Right there in the airport lounge, I had the privilege of praying for him — asking God to bring healing, hope, wisdom, and peace.

Sometimes the most unexpected layovers become holy moments.

Grateful for divine appointments, meaningful conversations, and reminders that people are often carrying far more than we can see. ❤️
